The origin of World Toilet Day
In 2001, the first Toilet Summit decided to designate the 19th of November as the World Toilet Day, and on July 24, 2013, the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to designate the 19th of November as the World Toilet Day. "This is to promote the construction of safe drinking water and basic sanitation facilities, and to advocate a clean, comfortable and hygienic environment for all. This year is the sixth World Toilet Day.
According to the World Health Organization, each person goes to the toilet about 6 to 8 times a day, which is about 2,500 times a year, that means about three years of a person's life are spent in the toilet, and women spend more time. However, one set of data is even more alarming, about 2.3 billion people worldwide are lacking places where they can go to the toilet, and in some poor areas and rural areas people still defecate in the open, the basic sanitary conditions are not guaranteed.
As the problem of unappealing toilets has received worldwide attention, China has also proposed a "toilet revolution" and public toilet renovation has become popular. The first floor is a men's toilet and barrier-free toilet, the second floor is a women's toilet and the mother and baby room, in order to alleviate the problem of women's toilet space tension, the ratio of male to female toilets after the transformation of public toilets is 2:3, which is in line with the latest national standards. The additional parent-child toilet on the first floor, ELLAI humanized to create a children's toilet, children's faucet, induction flushing and other facilities to provide convenience for accompanying the elderly, children and disabled people.
The combination of classical style and the new image of Shanghai continues the traditional elements and shows the innovative side of Shanghai. It serves an average of over 3,000 Chinese and foreign travelers every day, and stopping the rush and relaxing in such a comfortable and clean environment will increase people's good feeling about Shanghai and China.
